A quick look at the features list of any Sony Ericsson mobile phone handset will leave you considering whether or not to buy it because the company has a great habit of giving people exactly what they want. Every new handset they release is designed for a specific audience and the Sony Ericsson G502 is no different. A mid-priced handset, it is purposely designed to appeal to basic mobile phone users that want first class communication and love to snap the odd photo when they are out and about, but just how effective is it and, more importantly, could it be the phone for you?
Firstly, it is essential to look at the appearance of the Sony Ericsson G502 handset because it really is a lovely candy bar phone. Available in two colours, it has a fashionable and stylish appeal that makes it delightful to look at. You can choose the usual stylish black casing or opt for a beautiful and unusual hazel coloured casing. Both ooze sophistication and class. With clean lines and a lightness that few phones have (the Sony Ericsson G502 is only 83.5g), the appeal goes beyond the colour. The 2” screen also compliments the overall design really well. With TFT quality images, the handset is perfect for viewing pictures and for communicating in any number of ways.
In terms of viewing pictures, the Sony Ericsson G502 certainly has a capable camera integrated. It is a 2MP camera, which is weaker than the 5MP cameras that are common in the Cybershot range today but suits the phone perfectly. The images it takes are excellent, especially if you take advantage of the extra features that are incorporated. There is a 4x digital zoom and photo fix as well so you can make sure that you capture the best images first time, every time. The camera feature on the Sony Ericsson G502 also incorporates a video player that comes complete with video record so you can capture magic moments in that form as well.
Not to be left out, the Sony Ericsson G502 also features a media player and FM radio to ensure that it has adequate music capabilities as well. With Track ID, PlayNow and Mega Bass capabilities, the media player is just as strong as the camera!
The Sony Ericsson G502 certainly has a massive focus on communication. In fact, the camera seems to be a side feature rather than the main one as a result of this. The connectivity is excellent with Bluetooth and USB present. There is also an excellent Exchange ActiveSync email service, a fabulous Internet browser and 3G HSDPA capabilities. You can access picture blogging, Google Maps and RSS feeds all from the Sony Ericsson G502 handset. As such, this really is one of the most cutting edge communication handsets available today.
It is incredibly difficult to find any weak points within the Sony Ericsson G502 feature list or even within the general working of the phone itself. There could be a little more on board memory, but with a Micro M2 stick included in the package to supplement the 32MB on board that issue is redundant. Some may say that the camera or music player could be a little better, especially the latter as the sound quality is not as sharp as it maybe could be. However, this really is looking for niggles. As such, the Sony Ericsson G502 comes highly recommended!(By: Carlson Osbourne)
